Dr Faris Al Aswad is a consultant general surgeon consulting and operating at Hollywood Private Hospital in Nedlands. Dr Al Aswad maintains a private surgical practice at Hollywood Private Hospital, offering the full scope of general surgery with a focus on hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and laparoscopic surgery of the gallbladder and abdomen. He consults from Ramsay Clinic Hollywood at Entrance 5, and operates and performs endoscopy at Hollywood Private Hospital. He consults in English and Arabic.
Working With Referrers
Dr Al Aswad works closely with general practitioners and referring specialists to provide coordinated care from referral through to treatment and recovery. Every patient is seen personally, a consultation letter is returned after each appointment, and any unexpected or significant finding is followed by a phone call to the referring doctor. Referrals are accepted by fax, email or post, and urgent cases can be discussed directly with the rooms.

Appointments, fees and correspondence for Dr Al Aswad are managed by Ramsay Clinic Hollywood. A referral from your GP is required for Medicare rebates and is valid for 12 months.

- Any scans, ultrasound or CT reports, and recent blood tests
- Reports from previous operations, especially hernia repairs
Fees and insurance
Consultation fees are quoted when you book. Before any operation or endoscopy you receive written informed financial consent for the surgeon's fee, with the hospital and anaesthetist components explained before admission. Hollywood Private Hospital has agreements with all major Australian health funds. Uninsured patients can ask the rooms for a self funded estimate, and DVA card holders are welcome.
